Arousal makes your swearier

After playing a first-person shooter game for 10 mins to increase emotional arousal, people could think of more swear words than after playing a calming golf game for the same length of time.

Tourette's doesn't cause swearing

Known as coprolalia, outbursts of swearing only affect less than 10% of people with Tourette's. Most people with Tourette’s experience motor or vocal tics, rather than swearing.

Other species swear, apparently

A chimpanzee, called Washoe, who was raised in captivity and taught to communicate through sign language started to use the sign for 'Dirty' in a derogatory way towards her handlers.
